  • 2 lb. lean stewing beef, cut in small pieces
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 c. celery, chopped
  • 2 potatoes, cut up
  • 6 carrots, cut in 1-inch pieces
  • 1 slice white bread, cubed
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce with cheese
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
