- 2/3 cups Shortening
- 2/3 cups Butter
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 3-1/2 cups Flour
- 12 ounces, weight Chocolate Chips

1Preheat oven to 375 F.

2In a large bowl, cream together shortening, butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add remaining ingredients (except chocolate chips) and mix. **I usually add only as much flour as it takes to get the dough to pull off the sides of the bowl while mixing. Add chocolate chips last and mix them in.

3Drop dough by the teaspoonful onto an un-greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 F for 8 minutes. **DO NOT over-bake them! They usually look like they are not done when I take them out of the oven, but just leave them on the sheet for 5 more minutes before taking them off.
