- 2 cups boiling water
- 12 cup yellow cornmeal
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 12 cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast
- 5 cups flour (approximate)
Directions

1Stir cornmeal into just-boiling water.

2Boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

3Add butter, molasses, and salt.

4Cool.

5When mixture is lukewarm, add softened yeast and enough flour to make a stiff dough.

6Knead well and place dough in a warm place to double in size.

7Shape risen dough into 2 loaves and place each loaf in a buttered loaf pan.

8Allow dough to rise again.

9Bake at 350 degrees F for about 1 hour.
