- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 3 Tbsp. warm water
- 5 c. flour (plain)
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 5 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. Crisco shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Blend yeast and water (set aside).

2Sift dry ingredients.

3Cut in shortening.

4Add dissolved yeast and buttermilk and blend thoroughly with fork.

5Place dough on well-floured board and knead several minutes.

6Roll out desired amount of dough and cut out biscuits.

7Place remainder of dough in plastic bag and refrigerate until needed.

8Cook at 400° for 20 minutes or until lightly brown. Dough will keep for 10 days in refrigerator.
