- 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 pkg. dry yeast, dissolved in 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together in large bowl.

2Cut in shortening and mix thoroughly. Add buttermilk and dissolved yeast. Work together with large spoon until all flour is moistened. Cover bowl and put in refrigerator until ready to use as needed. When ready to use, take out as much as needed.

3Roll on floured board to 1/2-inch thickness and cut. Bake at 425° for between 8 to 10 minutes.

4Makes 6 dozen.

5This dough will keep in refrigerator several weeks.
