- 1 pkg. yeast
- 5 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 3 Tbsp. water
- 4 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Stir yeast mixture and buttermilk into dry ingredients.

3Roll out on floured surface.

4Cut with biscuit cutter and brush tops with butter.

5Bake at 400° for 10 to 12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.

6To freeze, bake at 400° for about 5 to 6 minutes; cool and wrap for freezing.
