- 5 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 c. Crisco
- 2 pkg. yeast dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside.

2Sift dry ingredients together.

3Cut in shortening.

4Add yeast mixture and buttermilk. Knead lightly on floured surface.

5Cut with 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place on baking sheet; brush top with melted butter.

6Let rise for 1 hour.

7Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.

8Yields about 2 1/2 dozen.
