- 5 c. self-rising flour, sifted
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Combine flour, sugar and soda in large bowl.

2Cut in shortening; stir in yeast and buttermilk.

3Mix very well.

4Keep covered in refrigerator at least one hour or two before using. Roll out and cut as desired.

5Place on greased pan.

6Allow them to rise for 2 hours.

7Bake at 450° approximately 10 minutes or until golden brown (450° oven).
