- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Soften yeast in warm water and set aside.

2Sift dry ingredients together.

3Cut shortening into flour mixture.

4Add milk and softened yeast.

5Stir until well blended.

6Store in refrigerator about 1 hour before baking.

7Roll dough 1/2 inch thick and cut using a 2 inch cutter.

8Let rise for 1 hour.

9Bake at 450° for 10 minutes or until brown.
