- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 1/2 c. plain flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/3 c. sugar
Directions

1Mix yeast and warm water and set aside.

2Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening.

3Add buttermilk and yeast mixture.

4Blend thoroughly with spoon.

5Refrigerate or make into rolls.

6When needed, make rolls and let rise at room temperature for 1 hour. Bake at 375° for about 15 minutes or until brown.

7Makes about 3 dozen.
