- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. warm water
- 5 c. plain flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. Crisco
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2Sift flour.

3Add dry ingredients to flour.

4Cut in shortening.

5Stir in yeast mixture and buttermilk. Mix until moistened.

6May be rolled out and cut into biscuits. Place in greased baking pan.

7Allow to rise about an hour before baking.

8Bake at 400° for 12 to 18 minutes.

9(Dough may be stored in plastic in refrigerator for several days.)
