Ingredients
- 5 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Cut in shortening.

3Dissolve yeast in warm water or can be added to dry ingredients.

4Add buttermilk to dry ingredients.

5Turn out on floured board.

6Knead lightly.

7Roll 1/4-inch thick.

8Cut with biscuit cutter.

9Dip in melted butter and fold in half and place in pan or cookie sheet. Makes 48 biscuits.

10Can be frozen raw for several weeks.

11Take out and let rise and bake at 400° for 15 minutes.

12Yield: 48 biscuits.
