- 5 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 4 Tbsp. warm water
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Cut in shortening with pastry blender to cornmeal size. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add with buttermilk to dry mix.

3Mix well. Turn onto floured board and knead lightly. Roll out about 1/4-inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter.

4Place on cookie sheet.

5Brush with butter. Bake at 400° about 15 minutes.

6Dough will keep in refrigerator and can be used as needed.
