  • 5 c. sifted flour
  • 5 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 5 Tbsp. lukewarm water

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in warm water.

    Mix all dry ingredients.

    Cut in shortening. Add milk and yeast.

    Knead lightly.

    Cut out and bake at 450° on greased sheet, or store in tight plastic container in refrigerator and use as needed for 1 to 1 1/2 weeks.
