- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. shortening
Directions

1Sift flour and cut in shortening. Dissolve yeast in water and combine with milk.

2Add yeast mixture to dry ingredients and stir well.

3Knead; add flour if needed.

4Roll out on floured board 1/2-inch thick.

5Cut with biscuit cutter.

6Bake at 450° until brown.

7You can pinch off and bake in muffin tins.
