- 5 c. flour
- 1 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 3 Tbsp. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Blend together flour, shortening, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt

2until crumbly.

3Mix together the dry yeast and warm water until dissolved.

4Let stand for 5 minutes. Add to flour mixture.

5Add buttermilk; mix well.

6Roll or pat out on floured surface to 1/2-inch thickness.

7Cut with biscuit cutter or small glass.

8Bake at 450° for 12 minutes.

9Dough may be refrigerated until needed up to 2 weeks.
