  • 6 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. Crisco

Directions

    Sift dry ingredients together.

    Cut in Crisco; add yeast and buttermilk.

    Knead well.

    Roll out on a floured table top and cut out as desired.

    Bake at 450°.

    Dough may be put in a covered bowl and refrigerated for as long as a week.

    After biscuits are cut out, let rise before baking.

    Bake at 400° for 10 minutes or until brown.
