- 2/3 c. shortening
- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Combine buttermilk and soda. Blend flour and shortening with pastry blender.

3Add sugar to flour mixture.

4Mix yeast, water, buttermilk and soda; add to flour mixture.

5Mix well.

6Place in airtight container in refrigerator.

7Keeps for several days.
