- 1 pkg. dry active yeast
- 3 Tbsp. warm water
- 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 5 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening.

3Stir in yeast and buttermilk.

4Dough will be sticky.

5Knead in enough flour to handle, but don't make dough stiff.

6Roll and cut.

7Let rise 30 to 60 minutes.

8Bake at 400° 10 to 12 minutes.

9Dough will last a week in the refrigerator, but will need to rise at least a full hour once cut.
