- 5 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. (1 Tbsp.) dry yeast
- 4 Tbsp. warm water
- 2 c. fresh buttermilk
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients, cut in shortening with pastry blender. Dissolve yeast in warm water; add to dry ingredients with buttermilk; mix well.

2Roll out 1/4-inch thick; cut with round biscuit cutter.

3Dip in melted butter; fold in half.

4Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.

5Use what you need, put the rest in refrigerator.

6These will keep in fridge or may be frozen.

7No need to thaw out, just place from freezer to oven.

8Place 3 to 4 tablespoons butter in pan for biscuits.
