- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 5 to 5 1/2 c. flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. sugar (may use sweetener)
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

2Sift together dry ingredients; cut in shortening.

3Add yeast and buttermilk to dry mixture.

4Knead dough on floured board until it holds together. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness.

5Cut with biscuit cutter and dip biscuits in melted oleo or butter and place on pan.

6Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
