- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. instant yeast
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Cut in shortening and buttermilk.

3Mix well.

4Knead and roll out dough on lightly floured surface.

5Roll to 1/4-inch thickness.

6Cut with biscuit cutter.

7Brush with melted butter and fold in half.

8Bake at 400° for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

9Brush tops with melted butter.

10Makes about 75 biscuits, depending on size of biscuit cutter.
