  • 1 1/4 c. Crisco
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. anise oil
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 tsp. lemon extract or orange extract
  • 12 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 7 tsp. baking powder
  • 7 to 7 1/2 c. flour

    Cream the Crisco and sugar; add eggs and flavorings.

    Mix well.

    Add dry ingredients.

    Oil 4 cookie sheets as this makes 4 loaves longways.

    Divide dough into 4 parts and make loaves about 1 inch high.

    Bake 40 to 50 minutes at 350° until lightly browned. While still warm, slice 1/2 inch thick and place slices on cookie sheet and return to oven to crisp and brown slightly on both sides, about 10 to 12 minutes.
