Ingredients
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 lb. butter
- 3 tsp. anise extract
- 1/4 c. warm water (I find that 1/4 c. is sometimes too much, start with 1/2 the amount and add, if needed)
Directions

1In bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.

2Toss lightly. Add eggs and sugar, mix well.

3Mixture will be crumbly.

4Add melted butter, anise extract and warm water.

5Stir until mixture forms ball.

6Knead 5 minutes until smooth.

7Cook in fridge 1 hour.

8Pinch off pieces of dough size of walnuts and roll into logs.

9Tie into knots, shape and place on lightly greased cookie sheet.

10Bake at 350° for about 25 minutes until slightly brown.
