  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp. ground sage
  • 1/4 tsp. dried thyme
  • 2 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 1 tsp. vegetable broth mix
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, unpeeled and chopped
  • 6 slices whole wheat bread, cubed
  • 1/2 c. water

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.

    Add onion, celery and garlic.

    Saute until tender. Remove from heat and sprinkle spices and broth mix over onion mixture.

    Stir to blend. Add apple and bread cubes. Toss stuffing, adding water gradually until bread is just moistened. Add more water, if a moister stuffing is desired.

    Place in a lightly oiled 1-quart baking dish. Cover and bake 30 minutes.
