  • 1 1/3 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c. warm water
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 3 c. apple slices
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar

Directions

    Cream sugar, shortening and eggs.

    Add warm water, then flour, salt, soda and cinnamon.

    Mix well.

    Fold in nuts and apple slices.

    Pour into 9 x 13-inch cake pan.

    Top with brown sugar. Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350°.

    Serve plain or with ice cream.
