- 5 large apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. water

Directions

1Place apple slices in an 8-inch square baking dish.

2Combine 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle over apples.

3Dot with 2 tablespoons butter. Combine remaining 3/4 cup sugar and flour in a small saucepan.

4Add 1/4 cup butter and water.

5Place over medium heat until syrup boils, stirring constantly.

6Pour half of the syrup over apples.

7Prepare pastry and place over apples. Dot with remaining 2 tablespoons butter.

8Bake at 375° for 20 minutes. Pour remaining half of syrup over top of pastry and bake 20 more minutes or until pastry is golden brown.
