  • 1 (9-inch) pie shell
  • 5 to 7 tart apples, peeled, cored and cut in 8ths (5 c.)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. butter or margarine

    Line a 9-inch pie plate with pastry.

    Arrange apples in unbaked pie shell.

    Mix the 1/2 cup of sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.

    Mix flour with the 1/3 cup of sugar; cut in butter until crumbly.

    Sprinkle over apples.

    Bake at 400° for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.

    If pie browns too quickly, cover edge with foil.
