Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 c. sliced apples (6 to 8 medium apples)
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2/3 c. enriched flour
  • 2 c. quick or old fashioned uncooked roll oats
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 stick melted butter or oleo

Directions

    Place apples in greased, shallow baking dish (2-quart casserole).

    Sprinkle with lemon juice.

    Combine dry ingredients, add melted butter, mixing until crumbly.

    Sprinkle crumb mixture on top of apples.

    Bake in a moderate oven at 375° for 30 minutes or until apples are tender.

    Serve warm or cold with ice cream or whipped cream.

    If apples are very tart, sweeten slightly.
