- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. water
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 c. butter
- 6 apples
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 c. shortening (Crisco)
- 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1To make sauce, combine sugar, water, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook 5 minutes and add butter.

2Pare and core apples.

3Combine flour, salt and baking powder; cut in shortening.

4Add milk all at once and stir just until flour is moistened.

5Roll out 1/4-inch thick.

6Cut six 5-inch squares.

7Place one apple on each square; sprinkle generously with additional sugar and spices.

8Dot with butter; fold corners up over apple and pinch edges.

9Place 1-inch apart in greased baking pan.

10Pour over sauce and bake in 375° oven for 35 minutes.

11Serve warm with cream.
