- 8 or 10 apples (Jonathan preferably), peeled, cored and sliced
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. (heaping) flour
- pinch of salt
- cinnamon
- nutmeg
- butter
- 1/2 fresh lemon
- 1/2 c. cold water
Directions

1Mix sugar, flour and salt; place half of mixture in bottom of unbaked pastry shell.

2Add half of apples and sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon.

3Scatter bits of butter.

4Repeat until all apples are used.

5Squeeze juice of lemon and 1/2 cup water over top.

6Top with pastry crust and bake at 350° for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
