  • pastry for double crust pie
  • 3/4 to 1 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 6 to 7 c. peeled and sliced apples
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine

Directions

    Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.

    Add to apples and mix lightly.

    Heap into pastry lined 9-inch pie pan. Dot with butter.

    Adjust top of crust over filling.

    Flute edges and cut steam vents.

    Bake in hot oven (425°) for 50 to 60 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is browned.
