  • 5 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 3 c. scalded milk
  • 1 c. applesauce
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

    Preheat oven to 325°.

    Soak bread crumbs in milk. Add remaining ingredients and mix until well blended.

    Spoon the applesauce mixture into a greased 2-quart baking dish. Bake 1 1/2 hours or until knife comes out clean. Serve hot or cold.
