2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. baking powder

1 1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. water
1 c. raisins (optional)
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1/2 c. walnuts (optional)

Preheat the oven to 350°. Cream sugar and shortening. Add wet ingredients. Add the dry ingredients; add the raisins and nuts (optional). Grease a 9 x 13 pan. Put the batter into the pan and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Use the butter cream frosting recipe on the confectioners sugar box or Cool Whip for a quick frosting.
