  • 1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Directions

  1. 1
    Cream shortening and sugar; add egg, applesauce, flour, salt and cinnamon and mix well. Mix 2 teaspoons soda with 1/2 cup boiling water and add to the mixture. Add raisins and nuts. Bake in prepared pan 1 hour at 350°.
