- 1 c. sugar
- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 stick margarine
- 3 eggs (room temperature), well beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 cans applesauce, mixed with 3/4 c. sugar
Directions

1Sift flour, then mix sugar with flour.

2Melt margarine and beat eggs.

3Add margarine, eggs, vanilla and buttermilk to flour and sugar.

4Mix well.

5Grease and flour pans.

6Make five layers. Bake at 350° for approximately 20 minutes or until done.

7When cooled, spread applesauce with sugar between layers.
