- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. shredded coconut
- 1 large egg
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 8 oz. apricot preserves
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Cream together shortening and sugar.

2Add vanilla, egg, flour, salt and coconut.

3Mix well.

4Spread three quarters of this mixture on greased 9 x 9-inch pan.

5Spread apricot preserves on top. Combine remaining 1/4 mixture with chopped nuts and crumble on top. Pat to spread evenly.

6Bake in preheated 350° oven for 40 to 45 minutes until golden brown on top.

7Cut into bars when warm.
