  • 1 (16 oz.) can cut asparagus
  • 1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts
  • 1 medium jar pimientos, sliced
  • 1 c. celery, chopped fine
  • 2 (6 oz.) pkg. plain gelatin, dissolved in 1/2 c. cold water
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. onion scrapings
  • juice of 1 lemon

Directions

    Boil sugar, salt, vinegar and 1 cup water.

    Add lemon juice. Scrape about 1 teaspoon onion into sugar mixture.

    Set aside to cool and to jell slightly.

    Drain asparagus; cut water chestnuts and pimientos.

    Place vegetables in mold and add liquid mixture. Chill several hours.
