Aunt Adele'S Lemon Bread

Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 5 Tbsp. butter
- 2 eggs
- grated rind of 1 lemon
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Directions

1Blend butter and sugar until creamy.

2Beat in eggs.

3Add milk and mix well.

4Sift dry ingredients together.

5Add to batter and beat until smooth.

6Add lemon rind and nuts.

7Place in greased bread pan, about 4 x 8-inch and bake at 350° for 1 hour.

8While bread is baking, mix juice of 1 lemon and 1/2 cup sugar until sugar is dissolved (to make a glaze).

9Spoon glaze over hot bread before removing from pan.

10Continue to do so until bread has absorbed all of the glaze.
