Bacon Cheese Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 lb. bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled
  • 1 c. (4 oz. size) sharp cheese, shredded

Directions

    Mix baking soda and buttermilk; stir and set aside.

    Cook bacon, then drain and crumble.

    Shred the cheese if you did not get the shredded pack.

    Combine the flour and sugar.

    Cut in the shortening to resemble coarse meal.

    Add buttermilk mixture, then add the cheese and bacon.

    Knead with hands and roll out.

    (I use my hands, unless I want it fancy for a special time.)

    Bake at 425° for 10 to 12 minutes.
