Bacon-Cheese Ring

- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. bacon
- 1 lb. extra sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 bunch green onions, finely chopped
- 2 c. mayonnaise
- 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/2 c. toasted, slivered almonds
- strawberry preserves (to serve)
- crackers or French bread slices (to serve)
Directions

1Fry bacon until crisp.

2Drain well and crumble into small pieces.

3In a medium mixing bowl, combine bacon, cheese, green onions, mayonnaise and cayenne.

4Mix thoroughly.

5Place almonds in the bottom of an oiled 7-cup ring mold.

6Press cheese mixture into mold. Refrigerate overnight.

7Unmold cheese ring onto platter. Place a small custard cup filled with strawberry preserves in the center of the ring.

8Serve with crackers or French bread slices. Yields 20 to 25 servings.
