Ingredients

  • 3 (No. 2 1/2) cans pork and beans
  • 3 large onions, chopped
  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped
  • 3 bell peppers, chopped
  • 2 hot peppers, chopped
  • 6 ribs celery, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 can applesauce
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 3/4 can tomato juice
  • 1 lb. sharp cheese, cubed
  • seasoned salt and pepper to taste
  • ham cubes (optional)
  • bacon strips

Directions

    If time permits, place ingredients in casserole

    or bean pot, topped with bacon strips and cook 4 hours at 300°.

    If time is short, saute all fresh vegetables in seasoned fat.

    Add all remaining ingredients and cook at 300° for 2 hours.

    Do not cook too dry as juices will thicken some when removed from oven. Yields 12 to 15 servings.
