  • 2 lb. navy beans (Great Northern, 4 c.)
  • 1 lb. bacon, diced
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/2 c. mild molasses (Brer Rabbit)
  • 1 c. catsup (if desired)
  • 8 c. hot water

    Wash beans and let drain, no soaking necessary.

    Mix together navy beans, bacon, onion, sugar, salt, soda, dry mustard, mild molasses and catsup.

    Add hot water; stir.

    Put in crock-pot and cook 12 to 14 hours on low, with high about 4 hours.
