Baked Caramel Corn

Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. light or dark corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 6 qt. popped corn
  • 2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Melt butter over low heat; stir in sugar, corn syrup and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

    Let boil 5 minutes without stirring.

    Remove from heat; stir in soda and vanilla.

    Gradually pour over corn.

    Mix well.

    Turn into two large baking pans.

    Bake in slow oven (250°) 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

    Remove from oven; cool completely.

    Store in tightly covered containers.
