- 1 c. mashed potatoes
- 1/4 c. potato water (warm)
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cake yeast
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 4 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Add shortening, sugar and salt to the scalded milk; cool to lukewarm.

2Add mashed potatoes and yeast that has been dissolved in the potato water.

3Blend in beaten eggs; work in flour gradually.

4Cover; let rise until light.

5Place on floured board; knead until smooth.

6Roll dough about 1/2-inch thick.

7Bake at 425° until delicate brown.

8Brush with melted butter.

9While still warm, roll in powdered sugar, white sugar or cinnamon sugar. These are very delicious.
