  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk warmed
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

    Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius.

    Combine the yeast and milk in a large bowl and set aside for 5 minutes. Add the melted butter and sugar to the rest of the milk and add to the yeast mixture, mixing with a fork. Add the eggs, one by one, and beat with a fork.

    Add the flour little by little, stirring with a wooden spoon.

    Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead for 2-3 minutes before placing back in the bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and set in a warm place for 60 minutes, until doubled in volume.

    Tap the bowl to deflate the dough and turn out onto a floured surface. Roll to 1 centimeter thick. Cut into circles, removing the middle with a smaller cutter, and place each onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

    Cover with a dry cloth and set aside for 45 minutes. Bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven.

    Combine the sugar and cinnamon. Dip each donut first into the melted butter and then into the sugar mixture.
