Ingredients

  • 1 cup uncooked mostaccioli pasta
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 Italian sausages, removed from casing
  • 2 Tbsp. each of chopped onion and green pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 cup canned tomatoes, cut up
  • 3 oz. tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp. dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 8 oz. ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese

Directions

    Cook noodles, drain and set aside.

    In a skillet, combine meat, pepper, onion and garlic and cook until meat is done.

    Drain and add all remaining ingredients except egg and cheeses.

    Bring meat sauce to a boil and reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 20 -25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Combine eggs and cheeses.

    To assemble, stir pasta into meat sauce.

    Place 1/2 in a 1 quart buttered baking dish and spread cheese mixture evenly over top. Top with remaining pasta and bake at 350 degrees for 30 -35 minutes.
