- 1 lb. pinto beans
- 6 c. water
- 3 Tbsp. brown sugar or molasses
- 1 can tomatoes and chilies
- 1 1/2 c. pork or ham trimmings
- pinch of oregano
- 1/2 c. chopped onions
Directions

1Fry onions, browning them lightly in fat.

2Place cooked pinto beans in casserole.

3Add onions.

4Brown sugar or molasses, tomatoes and chilies, salt, pepper, oregano and meat.

5Bake covered in a 325° oven for 30 minutes.

6Finish baking without cover to brown.
