- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. milk
Directions

1Heat oven to 450°.

2Cut shortening into flour, baking powder and salt with pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in just enough milk so dough leaves side of bowl and rounds up into a ball.

3Turn dough onto lightly floured surface.

4Knead lightly 10 times.

5Roll 1/2-inch thick.

6Cut with floured 2-inch biscuit cutter.

7Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart for crusty sides, touching for soft sides.

8Bake until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes.

9Immediately remove from cookie sheet.

10Makes about 1 dozen biscuits.
