Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. Butter, cold
  • 2 c. All purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. Baking powder
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 3/4 - 1c. Milk

Directions

  1. 1
Heat oven to 450°f. 230°c. gas mark 8. Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt, then cut in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  2. 2
Stir in just enough milk so the dough comes together into a ball leaving the sides of the bowl clean. Too much will make the dough sticky, not enough will make the biscuits dry.
  3. 3
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead slightly to make the dough nice and smooth.
  4. 4
Roll out to 1/2 thick, cut with a floured biscuit cutter.
  5. 5
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart.
  6. 6
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. 7
Immediately remove from the cookie sheet.
  8. 8
    Makes about 10-12 biscuits.
